Can You Go Tandem Skydiving in Gold Coast Australia?

There are a lot of fun things that you will need to do when you are on the Gold Coast, and eventually you will probably grow tired of the beach and the surf and the drink. But, if you would like to see this beautiful area of the world from a slightly different angle, then tandem skydiving in Gold Coast Australia is the way to go. This is one experience that you will never forget and is well worth the price.

What Is Tandem Skydiving?

We have all seen videos of people skydiving and it seems that they are usually jumping from a plane on their own. While that may look like a lot of fun to some people, the truth is that it takes a fair amount of training to be competent to do that kind of jumping safely and most of us don’t have the time or the money that it takes to get certified.

That is where tandem skydiving comes in. This is a way for you to experience the free fall sensation that you get from skydiving but to be able to do it with very little training at all. The fact that you have an experienced instructor strapped to your back should also give you a lot more confidence when you take that big step off the plane.

What Are the Requirements?

Of course each individual company that does tandem skydiving in Australia has their own set of requirements, but for the most part there are some things that just don’t change between companies. First of all, the minimum age for tandem skydiving in Australia is 14 years old and you need to have a parent with you to sign the forms if you are younger than 18. There is no maximum age for jumping and people have been known to experience this well into their eighties and beyond!

There is a weight limit for the jump and of course you should be in good health in order to do it. If you are over the age of 60, have any heart or circulatory issues, then you should definitely make sure that you are cleared by your doctor.

What Should You Wear?

What you wear will depend on the time of the year and comfort is the most important thing. In the hotter weather, you are welcome to wear shorts and t-shirts because you will be covered up with a skydiving suit no matter what the weather is. However, if you are jumping in colder weather, remember that the higher you go, the colder it gets and when you are jumping from 12,000 feet, it can get very cold, especially when you are travelling so quick.

As far as shoes go, you should wear runners or similar (no boots) and you will be given goggles to wear for eye protection from the wind. You can’t bring any items up with you in the plane and you will be given the rest of the particular requirements before you climb aboard.

Do You Need Any Special Instructions?

Even though every precaution is made to ensure that your tandem skydiving on the Gold Coast Australia is safe and enjoyable, you will still be given a full safety presentation before you take off and the entire process, from the time you arrive until the time you land is only about two hours, so it is something that can fit into just about anyone’s holiday schedule.

Where Can You Get the Best Deal?

There are several different options that you can usually choose from, including having your entire jump filmed and a DVD burned for you and your family and friends to enjoy, or you can choose to jump with a group of your friends. There are also certain times of the year and special hours of the day and week when you can get a better deal on the jump, and you can also get discounts if you choose to go more than once.

Even though you are probably as afraid of heights as the next person, the experience of skydiving (even with someone strapped to your back) is something that you should not miss out on the next time you travel to the beautiful Gold Coast of Australia.
