Gold Coast Day Trips and Tours: What’s on Offer?

It’s probably fair to say that the majority of people that visit the Gold Coast, have never been here before, or are not very familiar with the layout of the Coast. So, knowing what to do or where to go can be a bit daunting for the first time traveller to this region. If this is you, then you better read on for more info.

This is where organised Gold Coast day trips and tours can come into their own, because they take all the worry, stress and hassle out of planning your activities. It really allows you to get the most enjoyment from the activity/location when you can sit back, relax and know that everything is taken care of for you.

Please keep in mind that the tours that I have listed below is not a comprehensive list… obviously there are hundreds of different options available.

Gold Coast city sight-seeing tours

On this tour, you will be picked up from your accommodation and taken on a 4 ½ hour journey, taking in the sights of the Gold Coast from Burleigh Heads in the south, to Harbour Town in the north. You will get to see some of the Coast’s icons and special landmarks and hear about some of the history of the place from the tour guide/driver in air-conditioned comfort of the mini-bus.

Some of the sights that you will see include…

Gold Coast Exhibition Centre; Conrad Jupiter’s; Pacific Fair Shopping Centre; Burleigh Beach; the million dollar prestigious properties at Hedges and Albatross Avenues; Q1 Tower; Narrowneck, home of the artificial reef (great surfing); Southport Yacht Club; Short break at Marina Mirage to wander through the fashion houses, stroll down to the wharf, or walk next door to Australia’s only Palazzo Versace Hotel; Sea World; Sheraton Mirage; and Harbour Town Brand Direct Outlet Shopping Centre.

To find out more about this tour or to book, just go to Gold Coast City Tour.

Gold Coast to Byron Bay tours

Byron Bay is a very popular tourist destination in its own right, with its natural beauty, surf, beaches, rainforest and alternative lifestyles. On this tour, you get to experience the coastal and hinterland villages that surround Byron Bay, as well as visit the many unique shops in the area. There’s also the Byron Bay lighthouse with its 360 degree view and vantage points for whale watching.

Gold Coast Hinterland tours

Most people just aren’t aware of the natural beauty and sights that are available on the Gold Coast hinterland. People tend to think more of the amazing beaches, the stunning city skyline or the waterways, rather than the little known spectacular hinterland views.

This is your chance to experience a tour that shows you Springbrook Mountain (World heritage listed), 5 cascading waterfalls, a forest that has 2000 year old trees, an extinct volcano, and other awesome landmarks.

4WD off-road tours

This one’s for people that like to “rough it” a little bit and get well off the beaten track, and to see views that most other tours cannot provide. This allows you to access remote parts of the Hinterland that only a 4WD can achieve.

You’ll be in for one hell of a treat with pristine tropical national parks, rainforests, streams, rock pools, mountain views, and an abundance of wildlife.

Australia Zoo (Sunshine Coast)

This tour covers you with transfer from the Gold Coast to the Sunshine Coast, and entry into the famous Australia Zoo (made famous by the late Steve Irwin, “Crocodile hunter”). You can take in some of the shows and demonstrations on offer that includes crocodiles, snakes and elephants. Or, take your own time to visit other animals in their enclosures, such as tiger, giraffe, dingoes, kangaroos, etc.

You can also go on a safari shuttle for an informative guided tour of the animals in a natural rainforest setting.

Winery tours

This tour takes you on a spectacular journey into the Gold Coast hinterland, to the beautiful Mount Tamborine region. In recent years it has become more famous for its wineries, and on this tour you will get to experience (and delight in) 3 to 4 of these wineries. At each stop you will get to enjoy tasting at least 4 to 10 different wines.

If your budget allows and you’re feeling a bit more adventurous, you can opt for a helicopter winery tour. Following an awesome 40 minute ride taking in the sights of the Gold Coast and hinterland, you virtually land right at the doorstep of the restaurant located at the winery.

To find out more information on this particular tour, or others that I mentioned above, just go to Experience Oz and follow the links.

And don’t forget to venture out and experience the ocean with Whale Watching Tours on the Gold Coast or a Deep Sea Fishing Charter.
